Welcome to Tennis AIQ

Welcome to Tennis AIQ.

This website grew out of an analytical model designed to express player quality and match performance through data. Rather than looking only at results, the aim is to use the information behind those results to better understand how players perform and how their level develops over time.

One of the main outcomes of that work is the Tennis AIQ surface-specific skill ratings. These ratings form the basis of our Hard, Clay and Grass rankings, allowing player strength to be evaluated separately on each surface. Through the Tennis AIQ Prediction Engine, we take this one step further by translating differences in player ratings into expected win probabilities for individual matchups.

The skill ratings and Prediction Engine form the backbone of Tennis AIQ, but they are also meant to be explored. You can browse the rankings, look up individual players and create your own matchups to see what the model makes of them. The model itself will continue to evolve, and we are always interested in ideas, feedback and suggestions that could help us improve it. If you have any, please feel free to get in touch.

The Tennis AIQ Blog

While the ratings and predictions provide the analytical foundation of Tennis AIQ, this blog is where we want to connect those numbers to what is happening in professional tennis.

Here, we will use data to explore and provide context for current developments across the sport. That could mean taking a closer look at a player who is rapidly improving, analysing an unexpected result, examining trends during a tournament or exploring any other story where the numbers can add something to the discussion.

We also want the blog to be open to ideas beyond our own. If there is a topic you think deserves a closer look — or if you would like to contribute an article yourself — you are always welcome to contact us.
